David Bowie- “Heroes” by Masayoshi Sukita
Famed rock icon David Bowie has passed away at the age of 69, two days after the release of his album “Blackstar” and birthday, in his New York home. The singer battled with liver cancer for 18 months before succumbing to the illness. He is survived by his wife Iman and son Duncan Jones. While the singer had removed himself from the public spotlight and live performances in the past decade, his timeless music far surpassed any limitations of the expectations of the music industry.
A tribute concert dedicated to the Thin White Duke (announced hours before his death eerily enough) will be held at Carnegie Hall (3/31) and feature The Roots, The Mountain Goats, Cyndi Lauper, Perry Farrell, Jakob Dylan, Ann Wilson of Heart, and many other acts to be announced in the coming days. Tony Visconti, Bowie’s producer of several years will coordinate the house band.
